Proposal for Developing a Children's News Program in Turkey: Logo! Die Welt Und Ich

Abstract

Mass media has an important role in facilitating knowledge acquisition. In particular, individuals can acquaint themselves with social and political developments in their own countries and in different countries through the news on TV. Through the news citizens can develop political opinions and take part in social life. In this sense, the news programs can be considered socialization tools. Like adults, children also have the right of access to information. Therefore, the purpose of news programs is also to inform children about these processes. Prerequisite for that is to produce a news program in children's language. As of now, news programs for children are not available in Turkey. Therefore, this study intends to submit a proposal on the program along with some background information on the issues and children's participation and opinions on the issues are encouraged. This kind of presentation is considered useful in promoting political socialization among children.
