On Collaboration: The Evolutionary Story of Human Communication
Abstract
Various explanations of the emergence of language emphasize the biological and hereditary background of human language use and claim that a basic principle in language acquisition of a young child is biological maturation. According to these approaches, language leaming skill emerges as a natural trait of the human brain that can not be prevented in the direction of maturation. Tomasello, in his book "Origins of Human Communication" which was published in Turkish language by Metis publishing house in 2017, argues that the most fundamental aspects of human communication are the biological adaptations that have emerged for collaborative social interactions in general, and the linguistic dimensions of human communication are cultural structures created and used by particular cultural groups.
