High Performance Liquid Chromatographic Method for the Determination of Norfloxacin in Pharmaceutical Preparation After Pre-column Derivatization
Abstract
A sensitive high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method for the determination of Nor floxacin in pharmaceutical preparation is described. The proposed method was based on the derivatization of Norfloxacin with 4-chloro-7-nitrobenzofurazan in borate buffer at pH 9.0 to yield a fluorescent product. The chromatographic separation was achieved on a C-18 column (150 mmx4.6 mm) using a mobile phase of methanol-water (75:25, v/v) solvent system at 1.1 mL/min flow-rate. The assay was linear over the concentration range of 10 to 500 ng/mL.
