A case study of the Sijo creation class for overseas Korean literature majors
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to review the design and execution process of Sijo creation education, focusing on the case of the Sijo unit education conducted in the 2020 fall semester at the Department of Korean Language and Literature, Istanbul University and to confirm its educational outcome. As a result of case analysis through learners’ creation, by collecting the results of the class, it was confirmed that creative writing had a positive effect on students’ experience of the formal and content characteristics of the Sijo. Therefore, it is necessary to actively consider the creation of Sijo as a plan for teaching a Sijo unit at the introductory stage. This study is the first conducted in the field of higher education on classical literature in a department of Korean language and literature abroad.
