OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE OF THE GUERRILLA IN THE SPANISH WAR OF INDEPENDENCE AGAINST NAPOLEON (1808-1814)
Abstract
This paper aims, first, to offer a general view of the causes and the outburst of the Spanish War of Independence against Napoleonic France (the "War in the Peninsula") which started in 1808 and then, to establish a realistic frame for the role of the guerrillas in the conflict, analyzing their formation, structure, behaviour and effects on the development of the war.
