| dc.description.abstract | I was deeply saddened by passing of my esteemed professor Meral Alpay on March 7, 2019. Those who know her will appreciate how great our loss is. My beloved professor, who was admired for her personality as well as for her original scientific contributions to our field, will always live in our memories. This text is a short narration of her defining characteristics that impressed me within the period from my first student years that I met her till her retirement.
