Anticoagulation therapy and the use of non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants in the elderly
Abstract
Anticoagulation indications do not differ between elderly and younger patients. However due to the changes with ageing some anticoagulants may increase the risk of bleeding. Therefore a dose adjustment might be needed for some anticoagulant drugs. Non-vitamin K antagonists are as safe and effective as vitamin K antagonists in the elderly.
