dc.description.abstract | Objective: The inflammatory pathway genes myeloperoxidase (MPO) is involved with regulation of inflammation through reactions with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). The MPO enzyme is expressed abundantly in neutrophils, in which its antimicrobial function converts (H2O2) to the bacterocidal and DNA-damaging hypochlorous acid. Our aim was in this study to investigate whether there is a relationship between MPO gene (rs 2333227) polymorphysm (-463G/A) and neural tube defects. | |
