Impact of Max Weber in the Early Republican Period in Turkey and Understanding this Impact

Abstract

Sociology has been institutionalized concurrently with many countries in the West and the developments in the field of sociology have been closely watched from the very beginning in Turkey. But this was not only an activity of pursuit, and had a form through close relations with and contributions of the Western sociology. Within this process, the dimension of the relation established with the important names and schools of the Western sociology has brought the argumentations of impact together. But, these argument sociology have been pursued on the basis of impact or inspiration in Turkey, therefore it was not possible to comprehend the characteristics of these relations established with the schools or names at a multi-dimensional level. In this article, the characteristics of the relation established with the sociology of Max Weber in early Republican era will be argued and the necessary sociological perspective to comprehend this relationship will be revealed.
