Society in the Covid-19 Pandemic: Inequalities, Chanllanges and Opportunities

This study aims to examine the social effects of adaptation to masks and social distance during the pandemic period. In April 2020, five months after the research was carried out under the name of Corona Virus Effects, the second phase of the research was conducted in September 2020. The data obtained in the second phase were also used in this study. The study above-mentioned was centered on how the mask and social distance rules find a response in society. Data was collected through convenience sampling when the epidemic was at its second peak. A total of 2515 people answered the survey in this research. Many measures have been taken in the world and our country against the Covid-19 pandemic to prevent the spread. Two of the most important of these measures were the use of masks and social distance. According to the outcomes of the research, similar answers were given to mask and social distance rules in the society. And it was seen that women obey the mask and social distance rules more than men do. Besides, it is noted that young people take more risks than the elderly. As the income per capita decreases, compliance with the rules is also delayed. It was noted that retirees, housewives, and public personnel obey the rules more than the people who have their businesses and those who work in the private sector with salary. Data has more shown that those who do not follow the rules of masks and social distance tend to develop conspiracy theories about the cause and consequences of the epidemic. Also, it has been seen that those who think that they will overcome the disease lightly and those who are unhappy also develop behaviors not to obey the rules of masks and social distance. Moreover, it has been observed that compliance with mask and distance rules is straight proportionate to trust in the state.
