dc.description.abstract | Dynamic symmetries are related to exactly solvable problems through analytic solutions. In the framework of the interacting boson approximation (IBA), the symmetries behind harmonic vibrators, gamma-unstable nuclei, and deformed symmetric rotors have been codified in terms of the U(5), O(6), and SU(3) limits [1]. While symmetries represent stable limits of structure, most nuclei are placed in regions of structural changes. A new class of symmetries [2] describes systems undergoing phase transitions between dynamical symmetries mentioned above. | |
