SURVEYING OF PATIENT POPULATION UNDERTAKING TREATMENT IN ISTANBUL UNIVERSITY FACULTY OF DENTISTRY, DEPARTMENT OF ORTHODONTICS

Abstract

Adults orthodontics is rapidly growing field of dentistry. Demands of adults increased especially after 1960's. Reasons of this increment are the increase of dental art awareness between patients, development of dental health services. dental sector and advertise of sector. Purpose of this study is to acquire the profile of patients and detect about adults population by analyzing adult patients undertaken treatment in Istanbul University faculty of Dentistry Department of Orthodontics, For this purpose 444 pittienis started to treatment in July07-November 08 were counted in the study. Twenty one percent of patients are adult (18-59. The most crowded adult group is 18-25 age group (n: 71 % 80). The most encountered malocclusion between adults is Class II and Class III (Class 1-%26, Class II-%38. Class III-%36). Twenty seven of ninety two adult patients had a orthognathic surgery.
