dc.description.abstract | Iron which is among the most common heavy metals in water supply can be a nuisance despite it is non-hazardous elements. Because ferrous iron in the water sources reacts with air causing turbidity and turns reddish-brown color and it cannot be used as drinking water according to TSE (Turkish Standards Institute) legislations. Ferrous iron concentrations in the ground waters and some surface waters which are used as drinking water sources in Turkey exceed the limit values recommended by EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) legislations. Also iron in waters causes stains in the fabrics and accumulates on pipe walls which cause head loss. | |
