dc.description.abstractThe simulation of the casting development of metals and alloys using FEM (finite-elements-methods) requires time dependent heat transfer calculations. This type of non-linear calculations, that uses temperature dependent material properties affords material properties such as enthalpy, thermal conductivities specially between liquid-solid phase transformation zone. In this study the solidification of DIN 1.7218 alloy steel was simulated by time dependent heat transfer calculations and solidification rate was defined. Obtained heat transfer results for every time step used as boundary conditions in the next the coupled structural calculations realised to find the stress and displacements distributions on the casted product. It was observed, that the simulation is in accordance with the practical data.
