dc.description.abstractObjective: Servix cancer is still one of the most deadly cancer in developing countries. Today it is known that human papilloma virus causes servix cancer. Other risk factors accelerates carcinogenic process by increasing viral persistance. The aim of this study is to determine the knowledge about HPV infection and vaccination in High School of Health and to consider the further educational programs for students and public knowledge. Material and Methods: A total of 245 students in Gaziosmanpasa University High School of Health at 1st and 4th class were asked to complete the 20 items of questionnaire. Results: The ratio of knowledge about the existence of HPV vaccination was %25 in 1st class, %90.3 in 4th class, therewithal 99 students in 1st class and 11 in 4th class had no information. Since the ratio of awareness about the protective effects of the vaccine to servix cancer in 1st class was %9.8, %63.7 in 4th. The interclass comparison of the ratio of knowledge about HPV vaccine and infection were significantly different (p<0.001). Conclusion: Students in High School of Health must have sufficient information about HPV infection and vaccination, caused by being the health personnels in future, and creating risks for HPV infections and related complications. Nevertheless, the ongoing definition programs of HPV vaccination and servix cancer screening for public health have not been reached to an adequate level across the country. It was suggested that it is a priority to get precautions about this issue with the active participation of media organizations and to plan future educational programs for students..
