dc.description.abstract | Introduction: One of the subjects discussed in the patients with thalassemia major and thalassemia intermedia is whether excess iron deposition in the liver causes insulin resistance or not. As well, patient group with thalassemia trait (minor) is considered as iron deficiency anemia erroneously in daily practice and this group is subjected to excess iron treatment unnecessarily. In this study, if unnecessary iron load in the patients with thalassemia minor had any effect on insulin resistance was assessed. | |
