| dc.description.abstract | A new hydrazide, 3-ethyl-4(3H)-quinazolinone-2-ylmercaptoacetic acid hydrazide 3 was synthesized by the reaction of 3-ethyl-4(3H)-quinazolinone-2-ylmercaptoacetic acid ethyl ester with hydrazine hydrate. Subsequent treatment of 3 with aromatic aldehydes and alkyl/arylisothiocyanates furnished the corresponding hydrazones 4a-f and the thiosemicarbazides 5a-e, respectively. Cyclocondensation of 5a-e in sulfuric acid yielded the thiadiazoles 6a-d. All the synthesized compounds were tested for in vitro antimicrobial action against some aerobic bacteria and C.albicans. | |
