Understanding July 15: The Parameters and Results

Abstract

The failed July 15 coup attempt in Turkey was suppressed thanks to the strong resistance of the Turkish people, and Turkey's democracy has survived a great danger. The July 15 coup attempt has different characteristics in Turkey compared to the earlier coups. This attempt carries potential differences in terms of dynamics, qualifications and results. In this study, first, the particularities of July 15 coup are discussed in the light of the literature. Secondly, distinctive parameters of the July 15 coup attempt are analyzed In the conclusion, possible outcomes of the failed coup attempt are explained according to these parameters.
