Eczema herpeticum is a disseminated infection caused by herpes simplex virus, occurring in patients with diseases that compromise the integrity and barrier function of the skin, such as atopic dermatitis. Although eczema herpeticum may occur at any age, it is most commonly seen in infants. Eczema herpeticum is commonly caused by herpes simplex virus type 1 and herpes simplex virus type 2. It is a life-threatening complication of atopic dermatitis. Here, we present the case of an infant who had food allergy and atopic dermatitis complicated by eczema herpeticum.
