Evaluation of Trans European Network (TEN-T) and Transport Corridors Crossing Over Turkey

Abstract

The European Transportation Policy which is the maindeterminant of the transportation policy of Turkish Republic, aimsto facilitate trade and transportation in entire Europe. In thiscontext, EU carries out many regional projects and adoptrehabilitation programmes especially on integrated transport andrailways. With her geographical importance, Turkey have a role asa bridge on East – West axis. From one hand, EU supported projectssuch as TRACECA emphasizes her role in Far East – Europeantrade, on the other hand Turkey becomes extension andcontinuation of TEN-T. In this study, transport corridors crossingover Turkey is evaluated with the TEN point of view.
