The Women's Library and Istanbul Women's Library from the Past to the Present

Abstract

Everyone knows that those who make history are women and men; but since history, writers are not women, their efforts, their worries, their aspirations are scarce in history. At least it has been such a long time. That is why it was not possible for women turn their struggles into continuous gains for ages. A permanent memory is needed so that what has happened in the past, all the sufferings, all the efforts, should not be forgotten. Just as other women in the world, creating their own memories in Turkey is decisive in terms of freedom struggle. The Women's Library contributes to the efforts of those who want to investigate women's history by collecting the materials needed and by constantly expanding and offering necessary materials, thus contributing to our knowledge of our grandmothers' past by making their voices heard and building a freer future for not only women but for our all society.
